Ray William Dubbert, 68, of Bates City, passed away peacefully on January 8th, 2026 at his home. Graveside services will be held on, Tuesday January 13th, 2026 1:00 PM at St. Luke’s Evangelical Free Church Cemetery, Wellington, MO.
Born November 9th, 1957, in Lexington, MO, he was the son of the late William “Bill” and Mary Lou Swigart Dubbert. Ray’s early years were spent in Wellington and Dover MO before later residing in Bates City, MO. Ray received his education in the Wellington School District and graduated from Wellington High School Class of 1976. Ray married the love of his life, Chana Brewer/Chrisco, in June of 1978 and enjoyed 46 years of marriage together until her passing on October 9th, 2024.
Ray was a dedicated employee at the Lake City Ammunition Plant where he retired after over 40 years of service. Upon learning of Ray’s recent health struggle, many of his co-workers were quick to comment about their fondness to him, his willingness to always help if someone needed and his expertise in fulfilling his daily duties in a professional manner. Ray was also skilled at doing construction projects that consisted of building and repairing storage buildings, sheds and shops with many of them still being used today. Ray’s hobbies were well rounded and included going to the lake with his family when he was younger, excelling outdoors while hunting and fishing and some times just sitting back for a good round of teasing while both playfully dishing it out and taking it. Being a good husband, brother, uncle and friend came easy and naturally for him.
Ray is survived by his sister Judy Hemme (Mike) of Alma, MO, nephew Brian Hemme (Doni) of Carrollton, MO, niece Jennifer Lovercamp (Ryan) of Concordia, MO, two great nephews Braydon and Brody Hemme and great niece Brea Hemme of Carrollton, MO.
Ray is survived and was cared for by his sister-in-law Jamie Barada (Chana’s youngest sister), husband Matt and daughter’s Gabi, Alli and Tori Cada of Lee’s Summit, MO.
He was proceeded in death by his parents as well as a nephew, Brad Hemme.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lafayette County Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in Ray’s memory.
