Helen Francis (Drewel) Schwartz, 100, went to her heavenly home on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Monterey Park Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Independence, MO. Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2021, St Luke’s Evangelical Free Church, Wellington, MO. Visitation one hour prior to service. Burial in St. Luke’s Evangelical Free Church Cemetery for family only. Helen was born to Louis and Dora(Schumacher) Drewel on February 16, 1921, in rural Mayview, MO. She married Milford August Schwartz on December 28, 1945. They shared 74 years of marriage. The couple farmed mostly in the Wellington area until his retirement. Helen was very active and participated in St. Luke’s Evangelical Free Church, Women’s Fellowship, American Legion Auxiliary, 4-H, Happy Homemakers Extension Club, AARP, Topps and “The Bunch”. She leaves daughters: Cheryl (Gary) Klotz, Oak Grove; Twila (Stan) Samborski, Sunrise Beach; and Candice (Michael deceased) Whelen, Spokane Valley, WA. Also Surviving six grandchildren: Brandie (Daniel) Walters, Brooke (Michael) Becker, Lynette(John) Russ, Michelle (Stephen) Maurer, Megan (Nathan) Marney, and Cole Whelen. Six great-grandchildren and twins on the way. Sister: Kathryn (Karl deceased)Potter, Wellington. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Milford; son-in-law Michael Whelen; brother Omar (JoAnn) Drewel and sister Dorthy (Russell) Johnson. Memorials in Helen’s memory are suggested to St. Luke’s Evangelical Free Church or Kansas City Hospice.
